With the announcement by ACT Labor government to commit to a fully
electric bus fleet in the ACT by 2040, Michael Apps, BIC Executive Director,
thought it was time to provide a review of transitional approaches from
traditional diesel to electric. It is evident that governments around Australia
– with their commitment to zero-emissions by 2050, will see increased focus
on facets of the public transport network. The trajectory to zero emissions is
an interesting one for buses, as any new propulsion technology will be
effected by a number of operational and environmental conditions.
