The Round Up
Hello, and welcome to the first edition of the Australian Public Transport Industrial Association newsletter, Driving Force. New name, new format, same topics (+more!).
This newsletter will arrive in your inbox every two months. I hope that you enjoy the content. My aim is to provide you with a communication that is meaningful and relevant, not just a cut and paste from Workplace Express. If you have anything that you’d like me to focus on, or if you’re interested in writing a piece, please reach out.
2025 marks a new start for APTIA, the Council have already committed to no less than four meetings per year. There will be a renewed focus and commitment on advocating for the industry across the gamut of workplace issues including, occupational skills shortages, driver health, training and funding, submissions to changes at Fair Work, and putting forward industry views on all things industrial relations.
You’ll see the continuation of the Industrial Working Group, IR Breakfasts and a return of the IR Seminar.
In February, the Future of APTIA Working Group will be meeting to discuss the what the shape of APTIA looks like. I will continue to update you and seek your input as this progresses.
I’m really looking forward to getting out to meet you in your depots – if you want to send me a personal invitation, then please do! I will do most things for coffee.
Thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming. It’s great to be back in this industry and I look forward to being your advocate.
