National Contracts

BIC recognises there is no magic bullet in framing contracts for bus services.

There is, however, a lot in common between contracts developed at a state level that we beleive can form the basis of a national contracts system.

A national contracts system can deliver significant benefits to state governments and the bus industry by eliminating regulatory inefficiencies.

The BIC has developed a Principles and Guidelines paper on National Contracts which would see:

The identification of a national set of principles and guidelines for the procurement of bus services.
The establishment of a jurisdictional taskforce or lead agency approach to work with industry to identify the principles and guidelines to be adopted.
A further investigation of the financial basis of contracts and the development of a financial framework within which contracts should be procured.
