HLG finalises recommendations to double collective passenger road transport

HLG finalises recommendations to double collective passenger road transport EU public-private Smart Move High Level Group meets to finalise its policy recommendations to double the use of collective passenger transport by road within 10 years. Fifteen short, medium and long term measures include concrete proposals and incentives to prioritise public transport over the use of the private car.

Revising the 12-day derogation to save group tourism by coach in Europe

The passenger road transport industry strongly supports the European Parliament proposal to improve the 12-day driving derogation for international coach travel in the EU, adopted as part of the revision of the regulation on the digital tachograph that will significantly simplify the regulations governing its use.

Buses are lifelines to jobs

Last month saw the completion of the UK’s national Bus for Jobs scheme coordinated by Greener Journeys, which enabled jobseekers to travel free on their local bus services throughout January 2013. Initial estimates show that some 45,000 free bus journeys were made, attracting significant media and political attention.
